Située le long de la Chiers au cœur d’une superbe région boisée et verdoyante à souhait, l’actuelle
commune de Pétange (Pétange,
Rodange et Lamadelaine)
se caractérise par son passé industriel. C’est ainsi que la commune était jadis un important nœud ferroviaire. Encore
aujourd’hui, les Chemins de Fer luxembourgeois y ont un atelier de réparation employant 165 personnes. Grâce à la
Société Métallurgique et Minière de Rodange-(Athus), actuellement ARES, Pétange a toujours été un centre
sidérurgique de grande importance. Hélas, la crise de la sidérurgie n’a pas épargné la commune. Quand même, ce
secteur y demeure encore et toujours l’industrie la plus importante, et le pouvoir politique s’acharne pour le maintien du site sidérurgique
dans la commune.
Mais fière d’un passé dynamique et productif, Pétange se tourne résolument vers un avenir fait de développement et de
diversification. Soucieuse d’améliorer la structure et la stabilité économique locale, les notables communaux tiennent beaucoup à
promouvoir le développement industriel en attirant un maximum d’industries nouvelles, surtout sur le terrain du PED (Pôle Européen
de Développement). Mais nous n’oublions pas pour autant que, si Pétange est effectivement une commune industrielle, elle se trouve également
entourée d’un environnement naturel tout à fait exceptionnel, qui comprend une superbe réserve naturelle avec de belles promenades.
Un défi qui ouvre la voie du développement touristique de Pétange.

Die Gemeinde Petingen ( Petingen,
Rodingen, Lamadelaine ) liegt in einem wunderschönen Waldgebiet entlang der Korn.
Durch ihre industrielle Vergangenheit gekennzeichnet war die Gemeinde seit jeher ein Hauptknotenpunkt der Bahn. Noch heute beschäftigt die luxemburgische
Eisenbahngesellschaft 165 Personen hier in einer Reparaturwerkstatt. Dank der Eisen- und Minengesellschaft Rodingen-(Athus), zur Zeit ARES, war Petingen seit jeher
ein Eisenhüttungsrevier von hoher Bedeutung. Leider verschonte die weltweite Stahlkrise die Gemeinde nicht. Trotzdem bleibt dieser Industriesektor der bedeutendste
und die Gemeindeväter bemühen sich um den Erhalt der Eisenindustrie in der Gemeinde.
Stolz auf eine dynamische und produktive Vergangenheit, richtet sich Petingen entschlossen auf eine von Entwicklung und von Diversifikation gemachte Zukunft. Besorgt
die strukturelle örtliche wirtschaftliche Stabilität zu verbessern, bestehen die kommunalen Persönlichkeiten sehr darauf, die Entwicklung der Industrie
zu fördern, indem sie ein Maximum an neuen Industrien ansiedeln, hauptsächlich auf dem Gebiet des PED (Europäisches Entwicklungszentrum). Vergessen wir
trotzdem nicht dass die Industriegemeinde Petingen umgeben ist von einer natürlichen grünen Umwelt mit einem wunderschönen Naturschutzgebiet und
schönen Wanderwegen. Eine Herausforderung, die den Weg der touristischen Entwicklung von Petingen öffnet.

The municipality of Petange ( Petange,
Rodange, Lamadelaine ) is located in a lovely forest territory along the Chiers. Marked by its industrial
past, the municipality has always been a railway junction of the national company. Still today the Luxembourg railroad company employs 165 persons here in a repair
workshop. Due to the Iron- and Miningcompany Rodange-(Athus), today ARES, Petange has always been a steel industry of great importance. Unfortunately, the worldwide steel
crisis didn't spare the municipality. This industry sector nevertheless remains the most important one and the municipal politicians try to maintain the importance of the
iron industry in the municipality.
Being proud of its dynamic and productive past, Petange focuses on a future made of development and of diversification. The municipal personalities insist very much to promote
the development of the industry by establishing a maximum, mainly in the area of the PED (European Center of Development) to improve the structural local economic stability.
We nevertheless don't forget that a natural green environment with a lovely nature reserve and beautiful rambling paths surrounds the industry community of Petange. This
challenge improves the tourist development of Petange.
